Understanding & Respecting FERPA: What Parents & Families Need to Know
FERPA is a federal law that protects students' educational records and transfers control of those records from parents to students once they reach college age. While this shift can feel abrupt for parents, it offers an opportunity for students to embrace independence while families continue to support them through open communication and respect for privacy.

Grab your Widener gear and cheer on the Pride at a sporting event. Fair warning: We’re a lively crowd! With 25 varsity teams, Widener competes at the NCAA Division III Intercollegiate level and is a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference—the country’s oldest and largest.

Join Us at Homecoming & Family Week
Homecoming is our can’t-miss celebration each fall. All week long we celebrate the Pride with students, alumni, family, and friends with virtual and in-person events. The spotlight Saturday event brings the entire Widener community to campus for a beer garden, food, live music, family activities, and the main-event Pride football game.

Save the date! Commencement ceremonies at our Chester campus will take place May 9-11 under a tent on Memorial Field.
